Your design is finished. Now let’s get it on paper.
All Hidden Loves Studio stationery is supplied as a digital Canva template, giving you the freedom to print your finished design wherever works best for you.
You can use a professional online printer, a local print shop or print at home.
Before you download
Take a final look through your design and check:
- Names and spelling
- Wedding date and times
- Venue and address details
- RSVP information
- Website links or QR codes, if included
- Any personalised details you’ve added
- That nothing has accidentally been moved while editing
It’s always worth getting someone else to proofread it too. Fresh eyes catch surprisingly obvious things.
Downloading from Canva
For professional printing, PDF Print is usually the best file format.
In Canva:
- Select Share
- Select Download
- Choose PDF Print
- If your printer asks for bleed and crop marks, select the appropriate settings they request
- Download your finished file
Always check your chosen printer’s requirements before downloading, as specifications can vary.
Choosing your paper
For wedding invitations, a good-quality heavyweight card will give your stationery a more premium feel.
As a general guide:
- 300–350gsm works well for most wedding invitations and save the dates
- Uncoated or matt card gives a soft, modern finish and suits most Hidden Loves Studio designs
- Textured stocks can add character, particularly to botanical, romantic or more traditional designs
- Smooth card is a strong choice for designs with fine typography, photographs or intricate details
Your chosen printer will usually offer samples or paper descriptions to help you choose.
Printing professionally
For the best finish, I recommend using a professional printer, particularly if you're printing a full set of invitations.
You can use an online printing company or take your downloaded PDF to a local independent printer.
Before ordering, check:
- The finished size matches your template
- Your chosen paper weight and finish
- Whether the printer requires bleed
- Whether they require crop marks
- Whether they have any specific file requirements
If available, consider ordering a single sample or proof before committing to your full quantity.
Printing at home
You can also print your stationery at home if your printer can handle the card stock you've chosen.
Check your printer's maximum supported paper weight before buying your card, as many home printers won't comfortably feed heavier stock.
For the best result, select the highest-quality print setting available and test one copy before printing the full batch.
A note about colour
Colours on screen and colours on paper won't always look exactly the same.
The final result can vary depending on your screen, printer, ink, printing method and choice of paper. Matt, textured and coated papers can also reproduce the same colour differently.
If colour is particularly important to you, I strongly recommend ordering a printed proof before placing your full order.
Photos
If your design includes your own photograph, use the highest-quality original image you have available.
Try to avoid screenshots, images downloaded from social media or heavily compressed images, as these may not reproduce as sharply when printed.
What size should I print?
Print your design at the finished size specified with your purchased template.
Avoid manually stretching or resizing the finished artwork to fit a different proportion, as this can distort the design or alter the intended layout.
If you're unsure whether your chosen printer's size matches your template, check with the printer before ordering.
Envelopes
Check your finished invitation size before ordering envelopes.
You'll want an envelope slightly larger than the finished card, with enough room for the invitation and any additional details or RSVP cards you're including.
If you're printing a full suite, it's worth choosing your stationery and envelopes together so you know everything will fit comfortably.

For questions about a particular paper, printer, finishing method or print specification, your chosen printing company is normally best placed to advise, as their requirements and equipment can vary.
